BLUE SQUARE – ISRAELI SUPERMARKETS

Blue Square Israel Ltd. is an Israeli supermarket chain.

Blue Square is owned by the Alon Group, and its annual turnover is over NIS 7 billion.

The Blue Square chain has a prominent presence in Israel and includes a number of other supermarket chains:

  • Mega - Large department stores which also sell non-food products, such as household utensils, electric appliances and clothing.
  • Mega Bull - the chain's discount stores, which were established primarily to meet the competition from Supersol Deal of the Supersol Group, which offers customers low prices without special promotions.
  • Mega in the City - A neighborhood chain which deals mainly in food. Its advantage is its proximity to densely populated areas.
  • Blue Center - for shopping through the internet or by telephone.
  • Shefa Shuk - a chain boasting the lowest prices with kosher products appealing mainly to the ultra-orthodox and orthodox communities.

The chain manages a customer club called YOU which also operates in the field of non-food products through subsidiary chains, some of whose branches are within the stores of the chain and some of which are independent, including the toy stores called Kfar Hashashuim, a chain for household utensils Naaman, and Vardinon for bed linens.

In 2008 the chain acquired 50% of the tour company Nofesh Yashir from the ISSTA group. The company also has interests in real estate, Blue Square Real Estate, which is a public company whose shares are traded on the stock exchange.

Shares in the company are traded on NYSE since 1996 and on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange since November, 2000.

Our company Kor Az Ltd. is one of the consulting and planning firms which is designing    cooling and air conditioning systems for   various sales outlets of the Blue Square chain.

The cooling systems are being designed to operate using  energy centers for cooling and for cold rooms controlled by up to date monitoring systems which save energy and warn of malfunctions.

These warnings are automatically transmitted to the technicians by SMS and thus the  sequence of cooling and the quality of the food is fully and continuously monitored and maintained.
